NiGAS - Great Alcohol Stoves - Design

The NiGAS model 19 solo is designed with dependability, simplicity, and economy as the key features to its function.  There are no jets to clog, no valves to stick, and no hoses to leak.  The open top allows for easy fueling and ignition.  Simply pour about an ounce of denatured alcohol into the stove and ignite with a match or firesteel type striker.  The double-walled construction allows the stove to start heating the pot immediately without the need to preheat.  As the stove heats up, alcohol is vaporized and directed to the center of the stove, which then exits vertically and not horizontally.  Unlike other styles of stoves that hiss and sputter, the NiGAS model 19 solo operates silently.

One of the most important features that sets this the NiGAS model 19 solo apart from the competition is the ability to recover unused fuel when your cooking is done.  Cooking times are greatly influence by the temperature of the air, fuel and water. Wind will also rob a cooking system of valuable heat.  Trying to guess the amount of fuel needed to compensate for these factors usually leads to adding extra fuel to the stove.  With the fuel recovery system, you are never left watching your stove burn up valuable fuel.  When your cooking is finished, extinguish the stove, let cool, then pour the unused fuel back into your fuel bottle.

At an empty weight of only 13 grams, the NiGAS model 19 solo is one of the lightest stoves available.  Using only 2 teaspoons of alcohol to boil 1 cup of water, it is also one of the most efficient stoves available. The stove is assembled under very tight tolerances which eliminates the need for glues or epoxy which will eventually crack.
